Hello, my name is Astrid Rothaug. I’m a 2D and 3D animator based in Vienna, Austria. I am a very curious person, I carry my sketchbook around a lot, trying to understand how faces and bodies move and the stories they hide or present. Sometimes I even draw on the back of my hands. My passion is storytelling and my favorite way of storytelling is animation.

I studied visual arts before becoming a 3D animation student at PixlVisn Media Arts Academy. At the University of applied Arts Vienna I first got to know a bit about 2D animation, creating 2D animated short films and music videos. I particularly love to explore how much can be said by an animated character, even without words– just by posture and facial expression and what an important role timing plays within an animation.
